Tammy Nelson Obituary

Tammy Lorene Nelson, 53, of Sweeny, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 29,2025.

She was born on August 16,1972, in Victoria, Texas, to Pamela Phillips and John Helweg.

Tammy was a devoted mother who will be lovingly remembered by her children, their spouses, and all of her grandchildren. She served her community for many years as a volunteer firefighter with multiple agencies throughout Brazoria County.

Outside of her service, Tammy found joy in life's simple pleasures - taking drives to the jetties, cheering at the mud races, or relaxing on the porch listening to her wind chimes.

Those who knew Tammy will remember her for her big heart and generous spirit. Anyone she met became family, and over the years she "adopted" countless children and grandchildren who were blessed to know love.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Lookup Church, 163 Avenue D, Van Vleck, TX 77482, on December 27, 2025, at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lookup Church in Tammy's memory.

Sending flowers or plants to the family, in memory of the deceased, is always appropriate and very appreciated. In the following days and weeks, phone calls and words of comfort taper off. Then, heartfelt pain of a death in the family is really experienced for the first time. The arrival of a beautiful bouquet or living plant can be so uplifting during this stage of grief and loneliness. Realizing that others still care and remember even of weeks after the services, can be great comfort to those in mourning.
