Richard Lewis Logan, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2025 in Victoria, Texas. He was born January 17, 1941, to Harry Cook Logan and Virginia Lewis Logan in San Angelo, Texas, near Cristoval, which his ancestors founded. While growing up in Big Lake, Texas, he was a Boy Scout, participated in raising and showing animals and judging wool for FFA, and lettered in football and basketball. High school and college summers were spent in odd jobs in the oil field. He was a 1959 graduate of Reagan County High School.
He developed his love for the burnt orange and white while attending the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and was treasurer of the American Finance Association. Earning a B.B.A. degree in Finance, he graduated from UT in 1963.
Logan was a banker with a 43 year career in the financial services industry which began in Austin and concluded in Victoria.
In 1962 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Calkin Logan. They lived in Austin until 1978 when he accepted a banking position in Victoria. Through the years his various hobbies included golf, hunting, fishing and traveling
extensively in North America and Europe . He especially loved his time spent with his card

sending humorous, inspirational, political and somewhat improper jokes via email to his friends
and family. He invented memorable countless expressions, most too colorful to share. He
loved to bar-be-cue and became an excellent cook.
Funny, quick-witted and smart, he had enormous pride in his children, received great pleasure from his granddaughters and possessed immense love for Mary, his wife of 63 years. His family was the highlight of his life. He cherished his and Mary’s circle of friends in Austin and Victoria and loved the annual trips beginning in the late ‘60’s with their tight-knit group of UT Sigma Chi brothers and wives.
