Future Funeral Remembrance Plan

Reyes G. Garza Jr. Obituary

Reyes G. Garza Jr., age 77 entered eternal rest on March 31, 2025. Born on September 7, 1947, to Teresa de Jesus Gracia and the late Reyes Garza Sr.,

Reyes lived a life centered on family, resilience, and service.

A proud Vietnam War veteran, Reyes honorably served his country with strength and courage. During his time in service, he endured the unimaginable as a Prisoner of War (POW)a chapter of his life that spoke volumes of his unbreakable spirit and deep patriotism. Although he was proud to have served in the U.S. Army, it was a time that, like many who lived through it, he rarely spoke of. The quiet dignity with which he carried those memories reflected the strength of a man who had seen much—and chose love and family as his legacy. His sacrifices and service will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his devoted loving wife, Margarita Chavez Garza, and his beloved children: Laura Gonzalez (John), Reyes Garza III (Shonna) of Victoria, and Cirildo “Lilo ”Garza of Bloomington. His stepchildren, Lori Sanchez Ladd (Shawn) Cleburne, Tx and Phillip Sanchez Jr. Laredo, Tx

Siblings: Teodora “Loli” Narvaez, Delia "Peewee" Gonzales of Corpus Christi, Sylvia Garza of Puerto Rico, Roland Garza of San Antonio, and Rene Garza of the Rio Grande Valley. He is reunited in heaven with his parents, his stepdaughter Teresa Sanchez Lindell, his sister Yolanda Jump, and his brothers Robert, Richard, and Rudy Garza.

Reyes was the proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He was a man who found immense joy in the laughter and love of his growing family.

Outside of his love for family, Reyes found great joy in golfing. Whether it was a peaceful morning on the green or a friendly game with loved ones, golf brought him relaxation and camaraderie. It was a passion that stayed with him through the years.

Those who knew Reyes will remember his unwavering love, and his strength. His presence brought comfort, and his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.

A celebration of life and funeral services will be held on April 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM at Angel Lucy's Funeral Home. May he rest in peace.

Order Funeral Flowers Now
It is always appropriate, and often times recommended, sending flowers or plants to the family after the funeral services are over. During this period, phone calls and words of comfort taper off. Then, the heartfelt pain of a death in the family is really experienced for the first time. The arrival of a beautiful bouquet or living plant can be so uplifting during this stage of grief and loneliness. Realizing that others still care and remember even weeks after the services can be great comfort to those in mourning.
