Pedro Pizana Sr., lovingly known as “Wilitho,” passed away peacefully at the age of 92. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, laughter, and a legacy of love that will continue through the many lives he touched.

Pedro lived a full and remarkable life. He was a proud Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed playing poker, watching Canelo fights, playing bingo and dancing with his beloved wife. He never turned down in his younger years a Lone Star, Pearl, or Jax beer.

One of Pedro’s greatest passions was cooking. During his time at the Chaparrosa Ranch, he had the honor of accommodating and cooking for several notable guests, including President Lyndon B. Johnson, John B. Connally, four-star General William Westmoreland, and astronauts Pete Conrad, Neil Armstrong, and Buzz Aldrin. Ranch owner Belton Kleberg Johnson invited these distinguished guests to the ranch, where Pedro proudly prepared meals for them.

Later in life, Pedro worked in the oil field and eventually retired as a tool pusher. But no matter where life took him, cooking remained a special part of who he was. After leaving the ranch, he continued to cook for his family and friends, who greatly admired his cooking, his recipes, and the love he put into every meal. His food brought people together, and his recipes and traditions will continue to be passed down for generations.

Pedro was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Elva G. Pizana; his daughters and sons-in-laws, Belinda and Ruben Gonzales, Leticia and Angel Garcia Sr.

Brothers: Manuel, Julián, Rafael, Jose Luis Sisters: Zolia Gonzalez, Guadalupe Cantu, Carmen Pizana, Diamantina Aguilar.

He is survived by his sons, Pedro Pizana Jr. (Debbie), Andres Pizana Sr. (Judy), Abel Pizana Sr. (Sadie) Survived by sisters: Rosie Gonzalez, Gloria Caceres, Norma Lucio along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who loved him dearly.

Pedro’s family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you for all the love and special care given to their father by all the staff at Riverside Oaks, Harbor Hospice, Dr. Sandigo, Marizela Hernandez and friends for praying with him, and saying the rosary before we lay him to rest.
