Olivia Bernal Obituary
Olivia Bernal, 90, of Victoria, Texas, passed away on May 13, 2025, in her hometown of Victoria.
She was born on January 12, 1935, to the late Alejandro Gutierrez and Josefina Tejeda Gutierrez. Olivia lived a full and generous life, devoted to her family and loved by all who knew her.
Olivia is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Valdez of Victoria, TX; her son, Mike Bernal Jr. (Rhonda) of Victoria, TX; her sisters, Elvira Valadez (Joe), Estella Martinez (David), and Janie Gonzalez; and her brother, Alex Gutierrez Jr. (Janie). She also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren, Melissa Samudio (Michael), Marcie Garcia (Eric), David Michael Escojido, Michael Alejandro Bernal (Amaya), and Megan Gilley, six great-grandchildren, Michael Samudio (Kara), Madilyn Samudio, Kobe Perry, Kyli Escojido, Kyndal Escojido, Mason DeLaGarza, and a great great grandchild Liam Samudio, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mike O. Bernal Sr.; her parents; her brothers, Ismael Gutierrez (Susie), Simon Gutierrez (Lupe), and Guadalupe Gutierrez; and her brother-in-law, Pete Gonzalez.
Olivia's legacy of warmth, kindness, and strength will continue to live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5-8 pm with a 6:00 pm prayer service at Angel Lucy’s Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 9:00 am with a prayer service at 10:00 am at Faith Family Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Raymond Garcia, Michael Samudio, Eric Garcia, Michael A. Bernal, Michael Samudio Jr., and Kobe Perry. Honorary pallbearers include Joe Valadez, Mason DeLaGarza, Chris Valdez, and Oscar Vasquez.
