Luther Hairell, Jr. Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and deepest sadness that our family announce the unexpected passing of Luther Forest Hairell, Jr., during a short hospital stay. He left this earthly life on May 4, 2025 to be with his Savior and his family who have passed before him. He was born December 12, 1944, to Martha Louise Peters and Luther Forest Hairell, Sr. in Yoakum, Texas. He and his family including his only sibling, Elizabeth Ann Hairell, moved to Victoria in his youth and remained here for the remainder of his life. His sophomore year, he met the love of his life, Linda Rae Pullin who he dated through graduation. They married after high school and had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 4, 2025. They were blessed with 4 children and went on to have 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. His family was his joy, his love and his life. He worked for DuPont for 36 years and retired from there in 2001. He enjoyed the outdoors completely and more specifically fishing, hunting, camping, tinkering in his shop, building things for and with his family, being active in Boy Scouts of America and spending time with his family. He never needed much to be happy, just his beautiful wife and family around him was his greatest, deepest and most treasured love. He was strong in his belief of God and his Savior Jesus Christ, his family and his country. He lived a life with amazing strength, perseverance, high morals and values and with joy for what was to come with each day. He had trials and hardships but handled them with great dignity and grace. He was an avid protector of his family and always available to help and put others before himself. He lived his life with incredible honor, morality and a genuine love that will live on in those he touched. We will miss his physical presence but rejoice in knowing he is waiting for us with his family and most importantly with His Savior and Redeemer the Lord Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife Linda, his children: John Hairell (Jennifer), Michelle Hairell Tesch (Boyce), Raquel Hairell, Jason Colt Hairell Sr. (Katie), his niece Lori Hairell, his 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please dedicate donations in his name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Boy Scouts of America (Scouting America). His ashes will be buried in a private ceremony for family and close friends.

Sending flowers or plants to the family, in memory of the deceased, is always appropriate and very appreciated. In the following days and weeks, phone calls and words of comfort taper off. Then, heartfelt pain of a death in the family is really experienced for the first time. The arrival of a beautiful bouquet or living plant can be so uplifting during this stage of grief and loneliness. Realizing that others still care and remember even of weeks after the services, can be great comfort to those in mourning. |
