Obituary of Lullis "Mike" Jackson
IN THE CARE OF

Lullis “Mike” Jackson, 91, of Victoria, Texas, peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, January 23, 2026. Born on May 6, 1934, in the close-knit community of Peyton Colony near Blanco, Texas. Mike grew up surrounded by the strength, faith, and resilience that defined his family and the generations before him.

From an early age, Mike carried a quiet determination and an unwavering sense of purpose. That drive led him to Huston-Tillotson University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology in 1964 and proudly became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. His time there strengthened his intellect and his character, forging lifelong brotherhoods, valuable lessons, and a commitment to service that remained central throughout his life.

Mike’s greatest joy began the day he met the love of his life, Elizabeth M. Holmes. Their marriage blossomed into 65 beautiful years, grounded in devotion, partnership, and a deep friendship that never wavered. Together they raised two daughters, Kimberly and Machon, who were the center of his world. As a father, Mike was loving and steady, encouraging yet firm, wise yet gentle, and always present.

A veteran of the Korean War, Mike honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he began his career as a teacher with the Cuero ISD. He later built a respected 30-year career as Laboratory Supervisor and Human Resource Specialist at E.I. DuPont, where he was known for his integrity, contagious laugh, strong work ethic, and ability to bring out the best in others. His dedication to service earned him recognition from numerous organizations over the years.

One of Mike’s proudest contributions was his work with GCAME (Golden Crescent Alliance for Minorities in Engineering), where he played a pivotal role in guiding and encouraging youth to pursue STEM careers. His influence continues to ripple through the lives he helped shape.

Faith guided Mike’s life. As a devoted member of Webster Chapel United Methodist Church, he lived his beliefs through kindness, service, and generosity. Whether offering a warm smile, sharing words of encouragement, lending a helping hand, or simply making someone laugh, Mike touched countless lives with his kindness.

Mike now joins his parents, Jack and Alveda Patch Jackson, and his siblings Analee, Winora, Ara, Joyce, Oscar, George, and Thomas, who welcomed him home with love.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Elizabeth Holmes Jackson; daughters Kimberly Jackson and Machon Thomas; nieces DeAndra Brown and Victoria Coffee McNeil; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 5-8 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. A celebration of Mike’s life will follow on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Webster Chapel United Methodist Church, with interment immediately after at Memorial Park Cemetery in Victoria, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions to Peyton Colony Heritage Association, honoring the historic community that shaped Mike’s roots.

Order Funeral Flowers Now
It is always appropriate, and often times recommended, sending flowers or plants to the family after the funeral services are over. During this period, phone calls and words of comfort taper off. Then, the heartfelt pain of a death in the family is really experienced for the first time. The arrival of a beautiful bouquet or living plant can be so uplifting during this stage of grief and loneliness. Realizing that others still care and remember even weeks after the services can be great comfort to those in mourning.
