Obituary of Karen Jean Henry
IN THE CARE OF
Karen Jean Henry

October 15, 1948 – June 16, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Karen Jean Henry on June 16, 2025, in Victoria, Texas. Karen was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her passing has left a deep void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.

Karen was born on October 15, 1948, in Alvin, Texas, to Roger and Jeanine Lovell. She spent her early years in Pearland before moving to Palacios in 1963, where she attended Palacios High School.

During her mid-life, Karen spent several years in the mountains of Colorado, where she volunteered as a host at a church retreat center. She cherished the peaceful setting and the opportunity to welcome and serve others in a faith-filled environment. In 2002, Karen moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, to be near her daughter Amy and help care for her grandchildren. She cherished her time in the desert and often spoke fondly of it. In 2022, she returned to Texas and made her home in Victoria.

Karen is survived by her loving children: Jason Henry, Amy Garrett, and Lisa Emery. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Kate Garrett, Beau Garrett, Presley Henry, Grant Henry, Ava Emery, and Sawyer Emery. She was also overjoyed by the arrival of her first great-grandchild, Gemma Ruibal, whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger Lovell and Jeanine Will Lovell.

Karen lived a full and vibrant life. She never missed a sporting event her children participated in and was deeply involved in their lives. A woman of strong faith, she attended church regularly and was a passionate researcher of her family history. She spent countless hours tracing family lines, uncovering stories, and preserving records that would have otherwise been lost to time. Through this dedication, she proudly became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

She also enjoyed hunting for antiques, rug hooking, and traveling.

Karen will be remembered for her sharp wit, generous heart, unwavering love for her family, and deep devotion to her Texas roots. Most of all, she will be remembered as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, whose life reflected her enduring faith.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life service at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel in Victoria, TX.

Matthew 25:23

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.”

Order Funeral Flowers Now
It is always appropriate, and often times recommended, sending flowers or plants to the family after the funeral services are over. During this period, phone calls and words of comfort taper off. Then, the heartfelt pain of a death in the family is really experienced for the first time. The arrival of a beautiful bouquet or living plant can be so uplifting during this stage of grief and loneliness. Realizing that others still care and remember even weeks after the services can be great comfort to those in mourning.
