Irma Perez, age 84, of Victoria, Texas, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026. She was born on November 14, 1941, in Mathis, Texas, to the late Dario Perez and Evangelina Ramirez Perez.
From an early age, Irma had an artistic and creative nature. As a child, she spent her evenings at her father’s dances, where she made many cherished friendships and developed a lifelong love of music and dancing. Her artistic abilities were recognized in high school when she entered a citywide art contest and won an award for her work.
Irma married the father of her children, Lauro Luna, in 1958. She later graduated from Beauty College in 1967 and immediately began a career that reflected her creativity, talent, and generous spirit. She was self-employed for most of her career and opened her first beauty salon in her home.
Irma cared for the hair of her children, grandchildren, and many others throughout her life. She never said no. When a child needed a haircut and didn't have the funds to pay, Irma generously did it for free. Caring for others was simply part of who she was. For many years, on holidays and birthdays, Irma gifted the women and girls in her family high-quality hair products. She taught them how to care for their hair and believed that quality mattered. These gifts became treasured memories and traditions passed down through the generations. Irma took great pride in her appearance. Her hair and makeup were always done; she always smelled wonderful, and she took great care in accessorizing her outfits. She loved dancing, cheetah-print clothing, a firm hair updo, and shopping at Dillard’s, where she often enjoyed spending time. She also loved her cats, Susie Que, Scrappy, Sammy, and Carmilita, as well as her beloved cats Oscar and Suki, who preceded her in death. Irma was especially proud of the land she purchased in Nursery, Texas. There, she later raised chickens and roosters and took pride in the property she had worked hard to make her own.
Above all, Irma loved her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, hard work, generosity, and beauty. Her influence will live on through the many generations of her family, who will carry her memories, traditions, and lessons with them.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents, Dario Perez and Evangelina Ramirez Perez; paternal grandparents, Dario and Alvina Perez; maternal grandparents, Abelino and Isabel Martinez; sister, Emily Perez Estrada; brother, Eleazar Perez; son, Joseph Henry Luna; daughter, Catherine Ann Luna; and granddaughter, Paige Murphree.
Irma is survived by her children: Larry Lee (Sylvia) Luna, Eleazar (Brandy) Luna, and Nola (Cecilia) Luna; and sister, Estella Garza, all of Victoria, TX.
She leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Larry (Kahalani) Luna, Jeffery (Michelle) Luna, Anthony Luna, Mathew Martinez, Lori (Ramon) Maroquin, Arturo (Joslyn) Gaona, Samantha Dominguez, Amy Gaona, Amanda (Benjamin) Martinez, Stephanie (Brian) Luna, Kristen (Jacob) Foster, and Ryan (Alexis) Luna, thirty great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 1 pm at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 1:15 pm, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Nursery Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Larry Luna, Jeffery Luna, Anthony Luna, Mathew Martinez Luna, Arturo Gaona, and Aaron Gaona. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dario Luna.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Castaneda and his staff; Dr. Hoffman and JoAnn; Dr. Ebory and his staff; Angels Healthcare; Tonya and Harbor Hospice.
A special thank you is also extended to her three oldest grandchildren, Lori, Amanda, and Larry Jr., for their love, care, and dedication during Irma’s final days.
