Henry Ramirez Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Henry “Ricky” Ramirez Jr. who left us peacefully on Thursday April 10, 2025 at the age of 78. He was born on January 13, 1947 in Victoria, TX to the late Henry “Campos” Ramirez Sr and Antonia Elizondo Ramirez.

Henry is survived by his loving wife Margaret Ramirez of Victoria, TX, daughter, Valerie Trevino (Eugenio) of Victoria, TX. Sons, Henry “Ricky” Ramirez III (Lorena) of Corpus Christi, TX and Steven Ramirez of Victoria, TX. He is also survived by his sister Theresa “Terry” Garcia (Pete) of Victoria, TX.; his loving Grandchildren, Kevin Ramirez (Jessica), Aaron Ramirez (Estella), Fernando DeLeon IV, Antonia “Toni” Ramirez, Nathan Ramirez, Ileana Ramirez, Evan Ramirez, Rene Trevino and Joseph Garcia. Great-Grandchildren, Arya Padilla, Jordyn Padilla, Emery Ramirez, Adaline Trevino and Matthias Trevino.

Henry went to St. Joe from the 1st to 12th grade. At that time, it was an all-boy school. He graduated in 1966. He attended Victoria College and always said he majored in Ping Pong!

From age 13, he played the Trumpet, Trombone, and Flugelhorn in area bands. A few of the bands he played with are: Little Tommy and the Rhythm Nights, The Crystals, Pan Dulce, and The Rhythm Nights.

He was an avid bowler in leagues and tournaments, even in Las Vegas. He bowled a perfect 300 game in his prime on 5/30/1990.

He was in the Army Reserve when he was younger. He is a member of the Holy Family Knights of Colombus.

He was known by many as the Tamale King. He was a kind, caring, funny man. Always making us laugh and sometimes cry with his craziness. He will truly be missed.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of South Texas and MD Anderson.

Services will be held at Angel Lucy’s Funeral Home in Victoria Monday, April 21, 2025 from 5-8PM with a Holy Rosary at 6PM. Visitation will resume at Angel Lucy's Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 8:15AM with a Funeral Mass at 9AM.

Order Funeral Flowers Now
It is always appropriate, and often times recommended, sending flowers or plants to the family after the funeral services are over. During this period, phone calls and words of comfort taper off. Then, the heartfelt pain of a death in the family is really experienced for the first time. The arrival of a beautiful bouquet or living plant can be so uplifting during this stage of grief and loneliness. Realizing that others still care and remember even weeks after the services can be great comfort to those in mourning.
