Emil Ganem Jr., 81 of Victoria, TX affectionately known as Brother to his friends and family, passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2025, at home, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and adventure.
Emil lived a life filled with purpose, always putting family first and always helping others in need. Born to Emil Frank Ganem Sr and Margaret Towell Ganem on July 25, 1943, in the heart of Victoria, Emil grew up to be a shining example of what it means to live life to the fullest. He adored his children, Gidgett and Trey, and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with every fiber of his being. Emil's academic journey took him to Saint Joseph High School, where he graduated in 1961, and his professional path was marked by numerous accomplishments, including his work at Alkek's grocery store, American General Life Insurance, and Car Country.
His passion for life was evident in everything he did, from coaching baseball and umpiring to playing softball and riding with the Victoria Police Department. Emil's love for adventure took him to La Bahia Downs, and even the bright lights of Las Vegas, where he won big at poker tournaments.
His family meant the world to him, and he leaves behind a huge family, including his wife Barbara, daughter Gidgett Ganem (Rick Bigham), son Trey Ganem (Michele), step-children Stewart Gandt and Stacey Gandt; grandchildren Emilee Geistman, Jabe Reynolds, Drew Ganem, Billy Ganem, and Emma Ganem; step-grandson Wyatt and five great-grandchildren Levi, Lacey, Lexie, Whitley, and Reese.
As we bid farewell to this incredible man, we remember him not with sadness but with the joy and gratitude that he brought to our lives and many others. Our family would like to thank all of our family and friends who have reached out with love and support during this difficult time. Emil's love for Facebook was evident in the way he connected with everyone, leaving comments and spreading joy wherever he went. His passing leaves a great void in our lives, but we take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit will live on through us.
In addition to his parents, Emil was preceded in death by a sister, Gayle "Cookie" Fox, and his brother, Frankie "Shooter" Ganem.
A memorial visitation for Emil will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels, 3304 Mockingbird Lane, Victoria, TX 77904, followed by a rosary at 6:30 PM.
