Dora Garces Vela Obituary
Dora Garces Vela went to be with the Lord and Savior on September 26, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on December 6, 1934, in Yorktown, TX to the late Presentacion and Maria Garces.
Survivors include 3 sons, Alfredo Vela Jr. and wife, Iliana of Deer Park, Alfonso J. Vela and wife, Maribel of Houston, and Manuel R. Vela of Victoria, 2 daughters, Cynthia Vela Molina and husband, David of Victoria and Olga Hernandez of Seadrift; and her sister, Gloria Reyes and her husband, Manuel of Sugarland along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo "Fred" Vela, her brother, Alberto "Beto" Garces, a daughter, Sandra A. Vela and 2 grandsons, Brandon R. Garcia and Alfredo Vela III.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, from 6:00pm-7:00pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm at Grace Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 9:00am on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alan Vela, Alfredo Vela, IV, Kaleb Vela, Erick Vela, Aaron Vela, Alfonso Vela, Jr., and Valdemar Hernandez, Jr.
