Corrine Therese Dum Obituary
Corrine Therese Dum, 95, of Victoria, Texas, passed away peacefully of natural causes. Born on September 28, 1930, in Houston, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Margaret Kiibler.
Corrine lived a long, full, and remarkably impactful life. As a mother of nine children, she demonstrated fierce devotion to her family while simultaneously building a meaningful career and legacy of community service. She worked 20 years for the Texas Department of Human Resources, pouring her heart into helping families in need. Her deep faith and love for her community were evident in everything she did. Corrine was a devout Catholic and life-long member of Our Lady of Victory parish. As an active member, she spent years nurturing the faith of local youth as an OLV CCD teacher and as a devoted Girl Scout Leader. Her profound contributions to her parish were formally recognized when she was elected as Our Lady of Victory’s Mother of the Year.
A passionate advocate for women and children in crisis, Corrine was a founding member of the Gabriel Project and co-founded the Perpetual Help Home. Her outstanding leadership and tireless advocacy earned her the prestigious Perpetual Help Home Award for her service to the Crossroads Community. Above all, her most cherished role was serving and leading the Third Order of Franciscans.
Corrine is survived by her devoted children: Margaret Long (Steve), Thomas Dum (Sheila), Linda Villarreal (Buddy-D), Robert Dum (Dianna), Victor Dum, Virginia Manning (Bubba-D), Sharon Thomas (Ben), and Katherine Powell. Her legacy lives on through her 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, John Henry Dum; her daughter and son in law, Karen and Steve Justice; her sister, Mary Michels; and her brother, Joe Kiibler.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of South Texas, and the Dornburg Center of Compassion for their care and support during her final days.
