Colleen Elizabeth Maslowski

August 8, 1927 – June 3, 2025
Obituary of Colleen Elizabeth Maslowski
IN THE CARE OF

Colleen E. (Roedell) Maslowski born August 8, 1927, in Altamont, Illinois, joined her heavenly father on June 3, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Casimir “Ki” W. Maslowski of North Chicago, IL, her parents Louis R. and Frances “Fanny” E. Roedell, all 6 of her siblings and several other family members. She is survived by her children Marcia (Rudy) Czarny of Burlington, WI, Valerie Maslowski of Sun Lakes, AZ, and Mary Alice (Greg) Caudillo of Victoria, TX. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren: Michael (Kiara) Czarny and daughter Anya of Wauwatosa, WI, Stephen (Tracy) Czarny and sons Owen and Quinn of Tarpon Springs, FL, Gabriel Caudillo of Victoria, TX, Matthew (Mari) Caudillo of Uvalde, TX, and Bianca Caudillo of Victoria, TX. In addition to the immediate family, Colleen leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families from across the country. In later years, she developed a special bond with her nephew, Bill Fuesting and his wife Kim.

Colleen moved from Altamont, IL. to Waukegan, IL. as a teenager and graduated from Waukegan High School. Following WWII, she met Ki while roller skating and they married in 1947 at Immaculate Conception Parish in Waukegan, IL. Along with Ki, she raised her family, was a lifelong member and active participant of Most Blessed Trinity Parish and The Waukegan Emblem Club. After enjoying various jobs, she began her career at Abbott Laboratories in 1971 and retired in 1992. Gardening, baking, sewing, counted cross stitch and reading occupied part of her everyday life. She also enjoyed traveling – visiting several cities across the United States with the Emblem Club, visiting family as they moved, and traveling to Europe. One of her fondest memories was a cruise to Alaska in 2010 with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In 2021, Colleen relocated to Texas to live with Mary Alice and Greg. Once there, she enjoyed the company of family and the family dogs, who provided her great comfort. However, the move from Illinois meant she left behind many friends and neighbors who brought great joy during her many decades of life.

The family sincerely thanks the staff, nurses and caregivers at Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion, in Victoria, TX. where she was cared for following a fall and brief illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Most Blessed Trinity Parish in Waukegan, IL.

Interment will be at a later time at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.

Sending flowers or plants to the family, in memory of the deceased, is always appropriate and very appreciated. In the following days and weeks, phone calls and words of comfort taper off. Then, heartfelt pain of a death in the family is really experienced for the first time. The arrival of a beautiful bouquet or living plant can be so uplifting during this stage of grief and loneliness. Realizing that others still care and remember even of weeks after the services, can be great comfort to those in mourning.
