Carolyn Denise Westphal Johnson, 65, of Goliad, went home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2026. She was born June 13, 1961, in Sweetwater to the late Jerry and Rebecca Edwards. She is survived by her children, Eric Westphal and Rebecca Johnson of Goliad; her brothers, James Edwards of Victoria, Charles and Phil Edwards of North Carolina; and various extended family members. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by former spouses Michael Westphal and James Johnson. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Edwards of North Carolina.

She graduated from Goliad High School in 1979, where she was a member of various student organizations, including the pep squad. She married her first love, Michael Gaylord Westphal, in 1979. Together, they ran South Texas Automotive Restoration, where they restored antique cars in Goliad. Carolyn wore many hats in her time on this earth. She was a correctional officer for TDCJ, a cashier at the Texan convenience store, a well-known housekeeper for various properties, and also dabbled in office work. She remarried in 2000 to James Leroy Johnson and had her only daughter, Rebecca. Carolyn enjoyed helping animals, listening to music, playing Scrabble, and anything that let her use her creativity. Her biggest accomplishments were her children, Eric Westphal and Rebecca Johnson.

A visitation will be held July 14th at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Goliad, with a celebration of life to follow at 11 a.m.
