Carol Ann Murphy, 88, passed away July 24, 2026. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 8,
2026, at 11am, at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 1147 Reinecke Road, Victoria, Texas 77905, with lunch
and gathering following the service.
Carol was born and grew up in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1955 and
married that same year. After the death of her first husband, she married again in 1980. She was a devoted
mother and grandmother and supported both of her beloved husbands in their careers. With her first
husband, she relocated to New Orleans so he could pursue his career of Barge Lines management on the
Mississippi River. She helped her second husband grow his insurance agency and provide community
outreach through Church service, Gideons and inmate education.
In Victoria, Carol went by her childhood name Carol Ann. She served the Victoria community through
church work, volunteer work as a hospital auxiliary and by working at her local voting precinct for many
elections. She and her second husband, Gary, were long time members of Rocky Creek Baptist Church.
Carol Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Joyce Reynolds; her brother Gary Reynolds;
her first husband Harry Baker; her son Ben Baker; her second husband Gary Murphy; step-daughters
Mary Kay Kitay and Patricia Peacock; two granddaughters; and one step grandson.
She is survived by her son, Mark Baker and wife Sue; step-daughter Lynn Reeves and partner AJ; sister in
law Jean Reynolds; niece Cynthia Bowers and husband Brock; 7 grandchildren and 11 great
grandchildren.
