Betty Jo Evans, 89, of Long Mott, Texas went to be with the Lord on June 5th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Dacosta, Texas on December 27, 1935, to J.S. and Rubye Sikes, the 2nd of five children.
She married the love of her life, Harold Lloyd Evans, in 1953. They recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on May 17th.
She was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, seamstress and volunteered for 45 years at the Nursing home in Port Lavaca, cutting hair and ministering during the church service for the nursing home residents. She was known for her baking skills, in particular her dewberry cobbler and chocolate meringue pie.
She is survived by her husband, 4 children, Michael Kim Evans (Lisa), Samantha Evans Corbett (Steve), Blaine Christian Evans (Nancy), and Sherina Evans Graham (Brady); a brother Kenneth Sikes (Sally), sisters Dora O’Briant and Sandy Rhine (Chris); 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ronnie Sikes and her first-born son, Lloyd Dale Evans.
The family will have fellowship on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at the Evans' home, 4970 St. Hwy. 185 N., Port Lavaca, Tx, 77979.
A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church in Port Lavaca on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 10:00AM, followed by a private burial at Memory Gardens in Victoria, Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of South Texas in Victoria, in memory of Betty Jo Evans.
